How's this for starters?

The cost to the NHS of treating obesity-related conditions eg heart disease, diabetes & hypertension continues to rise, along with the cost of treating chronic liver disease resulting from alcohol abuse.

There are research based guidelines used by dieticians and nutritionists known as DRVs or Dietary Reference Values which predict the nutritional requirements of various sections of the UK population, including children.

These values appear on the majority of food labels, but they can be very difficult to interpret when we are busy shopping and preparing meals.

Marketing and advertising can also make food choices more difficult when we are trying to lose weight or just improve our diet!
